The Republic is revered as the greatest accomplishment
in the arena of government yet conceived. It is a council of worlds,
systems, corporations and guilds which have banded together for the betterment
of all. Although this may sound like a benevolent effort, it has shown some
tendencies towards violent and often cruel solutions to difficulties which it
has faced. For example, in 223 G.S.T. the Runner's Revolt on Olympia I in
the Olympia system, was brutally suppressed by R.F.W. shock troops
directly. Now, this is not the common situation which we face today but
the roots of the R.F.W. are drenched in blood.
The primary role of the R.F.W. today is one of Explorer
and Diplomat. The recent founding of the Exploration Corp combined with a
recent boom in population galaxy wide which has caused resource pressures to
mount, have resulted in an unprecedented expansion in the surveying of new
worlds. This has been a double edged sword and the push for the wealth
these worlds could open up has caused more than one territorial dispute.
